I plan to build a new PC in the near future and am thinking about using an X2 CPU. Is there a list of known software that will not work (or work properly) with the X2 CPU? I actually do not require a X2 CPU for what I do with the PC. However, I want an X2 CPU even though I do not need it. Typical PC use is as follows:

1. Web Surfing
2. MP3 Audio encoding (Razor LAME + LAME)
3. WMA Audio encoding
4. Real Media Audio encoding
5. Audio editing (SoundForge 6.0)
6. Audio recording
7. Limited video editing (Pinnacle Studio 9.x)
8. Watch TV (TV Tuner Card)
9. "NO" Gaming
10. Some DVD/CD burning

My "proposed" system would be as follows:

Windows XP Pro SP2 32 bit
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ CPU
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard
2 GB (2 x 1 GB) Corsair XMS DDR2 800 Cas 5 Memory
Seagate SATA2 Hard Drive (~250-320 GB)
ASUS Video Card (Nvidia EN6600/TD/128, 128 MB) PCI Express X16
OCZ PowerStream 600 Watt Power Supply
Promise ATA 100 PCI Controller Card (3 existing ATA 100 Hard Drives)
Lite-On or Samsung DVD-RW
Floppy Drive
Future: 2 or more additional SATA2 Hard Drives
On-board Sound
On-board LAN
TV Tuner Card (PCI)
Soundblaster Live Value (Maybe added if not happy with the on-board sound.)
Addtronics 7896a Case (Existing) Custom Modified for high air flow
Lian Li MF-20 Hard Drive Hanger Extension

Thank you.
