I've been having lockups during different games getting the looping sound lockup. I have all of my drivers up to date, and nothing overclocked. Memtest86 ran for 5hours and no ram errors found. I found that disabling write combining in nvidia options seems to have fixed my problem. My only problem now, is that it seems I have taken a performance hit. I get lower fps in games and my Aquamark scores are 10k lower. Is there anything I can do to bring my performance back up to par, or something else I can try to stop the looping sound lockup. My system specs:

Gigabyte GA-K8NSC-939 Nforce3 chipset
AMD 3500+
Nvidia 6800 Ultra
2gig 4 x 512mb XMS Corsair
2 SATA Hd's
Coolmaster 550W Powersupply
Windows XP SP2

55K after disabling write combining

Do you have fast writes enabled, you could try playing around with that with write combining enabled/disabled.

Its also worth turning off all bios shadowing in the bios.

I don't have an option that I see to turn off fast writes in my bios. I do see a shadowing option, I'll try playing with that.
