System just randmly crashes.... no reason... while idling... while using opera... etc etc...
I ran prime 95 on torture test for over 10 hours with no problems...
memtest 86 for 6 hours... no errors...
i have no idea whats going on....

ASrock 939 dual sata II mobo (1.5 bios)
Athlon 64 3200+ venice.
Corsair XMS 1 gig. Cs 2-3-2-6 (i've loosened timings, doesn't help crashes)
radeon 8500 (waiting on my saphire radeon x850xt)
2 maxtor 120hd's....
1 tdk 48x cd writer.
1 dlink gigabit network card.

I have no idea what's going on at all...
Just built it.. built my wife the same system with mobo, proc, ram, no problems.

any help would be appriciated....
Hijack this doesnt list anything... Nothing in adaware, nothing in spybot, nothing in housecall.trendmicro.com.

Nothing at all.. anywhere...

--edit--

Just noticed that right before a crash, the mouse jumps around if you're loading a program while moving the mouse. and crashes still seem totaly random... :/

No other video card to try as of late... Won't get new card for about 2-3 weeks....
The video card shouldn't be the problem but it is worth a try and I shouldn't neglect that....
I'll try changing the drivers... currently using omega 6.1's

I just noticed you have a Dlink lancard, doesnt that ASRock have built in LAN? If it does remove that Lan card it could be having conflicts.

Onboard lan is disabled in bios.
my dlink card is a managed network card, far far better than any onboard

But i think video is the problem, went to a 5.11 omega driver and now I crash whenever I open video propterties, never did that before....
going to download stock video drivers...
Currently running in safe mode with networking.. hehe...

--edit--
driver cleaned all old drivers, installed windows update version of 8500 drivers.. dated feb 2005.
Will update later if system dies a horrible crashing death as it has been doing... Everything seems a tad bit better for now....

--second edit--
System crashed again... don't think it's drivers.
How do I get bsod's to show up?
system likes to crash while loading speedfan... latest version....

--third edit--
Not video card, wife let me abuse hers.
Not ram, used her ram too.
maybe sound card..
maybe network card..
maybe processor...
maybe motherboard..

that's all that's left... :/

Sorry for the double post, but the edit's were getting rather long...

Alright.. cleaned all drivers out of my system...
through a ton of testing ended up with sound and network not being the issue...
I ended up switching their PCI slots though.

Reinstalled both their drivers.. without any of the extra crap... just drivers and that's it just in case that was the problem.

No crash yet... might have been drivers I guess....

Have you recentally upgraded ram? (I had a problem with my new ram, I have to take it back some time)
What was happening with me was random restarts, come to find out, one module was BAD

As a bit of added insurance, you may consider doing an disk check on the HDD on which your vitrual memory file (swapfile) is located. A bad sector can lead to causing your computer to have a stroke!

The ram is new, just like everything else.

Seems it wasn't the ram... restarts have stoped after uninstalling every driver in my system and reinstalling them from scratch.

wheeee.... no restarts still, guess it was a driver conflict somewhere
