Ok, I'd like to know where exactly should I place a temp probe on a 64 3200+ with a waterblock. Should it be directly between the heatspreader and the water block? Or, should it be placed elsewhere? Thankx.

I'd say don't bother with it if your motherboard reports CPU temp through the bios. If you want to measure the temperature of the waterblock, then stick it there. I guess the point is, that with an external probe, your not going to get an accurate CPU die temp, even if it's right next to the die, because the heatspreader on your CPU has already absorbed heat from the die at the point you will be measuring.

That makes sence. Yeah the mobo reports the temps, but I just got a new LCD indicator and I want to use that to measure the temps. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks, just finished it up lastnight. Still have to do some modding to the case, but at least I have all of the important components.

you have all of the newest components... Yeah, I loose money that way big time, but I frequent LAN's real often and I like to have at least one of the best systems there.

There is a selection on the Main menu of the BIOS titled "H/W Monitor" (for hardware monitor). Select this, then select "PC Health Status." It will show you all the pertinent info.

I've always been leary about adding xtra temp probs between the cpu and heatsink. It has to distrupt the rest of the chip from getting proper thermal protection.
