Hello,

I just recently bought a dell computer with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core. I'm running Windows XP SP2 and unfortunately need to install Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 for development in C++ and VB 6.0

When executing the setup wizard from the DVD it crashes with the typical 0xc0000005 exception. If I execute the same file in a computer with an Intel processor it just runs fine.

I would expect that snce this is a 32 bit OS everything would work as in an Intel based computer.
Any idea of what could be causing this error?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

are you using all the right run time files? also, try running a windows repair on it, to see if it will fix up the prob (if you have an xp disk)
