Hello all,
i came home today to find my Pc had shut itself down. I tried to turn it back on and it just powers up, ie: just a power light and Hard drive light permanantly on, no screen, no beeps, just usual fan noises and the dvd drive light keeps flashing! also the second dvd writer light stays on and will not let me open the door.I have tried to reset the cmos and shut the power down by the psu switch for a minute each time and no diference.
I have tried switching the sytem on with no graphics card and no dvd or hard drives, floppy drives and there was no change.
I have also tried no processor or memory installed and no change at all not even a single beep and power light still on with fans running!
I am not sure if it is the motherboard or processor. I built the system up 14 months ago with no faults during this time.
The processor is an AMD Athlon 3000 64bit (socket 939)and the motherboard is a Winfast Nf4 (NF4K8AC-RS-1-0).
I have never had a fault like this occur on any system i have ever built, so i am unsure if it is processor fault or motherboard fault. I have no spare 939 motherboards to test the processor on only a 754.

So you don't think the processor has given up then? Board and processor 13 -14 months old.
