I recently purchased the AMD Athlon AM2 X2 4600, and when ever the 1st core reaches 100% usage it will freeze for a few seconds, it will do this in games, while burning CDs or installing programs, it will drop the Internet out when it freezes as well, plus it takes ages for windows to start up even after a format and fresh install. It has been doing this ever since i got it. Does anyone have any ideas? this is really starting to get to me !

First, try unplugging everything but your harddrive, mouse and keyboard. In other words, try to boot with only the bare essentials by removing any usb devices that arent needed, remove sound card if you have one, etc. It's the easiest and fastest way to eliminate potential problems. Sounds to me like you are having some sort of conflict. If there are still problems, we can start looking in the device manager and such.
