Hey i have a AMD AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ 1809.2 Mhz And i would like to know what is the highest that i can upgrade to? Because i would like something alot better then what i got because i can hardly run the games i want with this processor. I Dont know if this is a AM2? Or what?
I was looking on NewEgg and i found this AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Windsor 3.0GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 125W Dual-Core Processor. Would i be able to put this into my system?

It's either socket 754 or socket 939. AM2 no way.

The motherboard dictates the best processor. Not knowing that you won't get an accurate answer.

The 4400 is better of course but what are you looking to pay? Around $100? If so it be wiser to by a AM2 board (many $50 and under) and AthlonIIx2 240 $55 http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16819103688 then all you would need is some DDR2 ram and hell i have some honestly I would be willing to mail to you. Someone did the same for me so Id be glad to return the favor to someone else. This would give you newer instructions on the cpu faster memory and the abiltiy to upgrade further were as the 939 w/4400 is basically the end of the road.

I'm trying to think of a manufacturer that reduces the size of the product code/number for items of better quality/performance....

Hi Baseballdudester I have exactly the same processor and want to know the same info!

Quick question for YOU tho... How did you find out which socket you have?
