hi all,

ive got a asus a7n266-vm m/b, bios ver 1007, 1gig ram, athlon xp1500 fsb266.

i need to max out this pc's performance without breaking the bank so the obvious is to max the cpu out so basicly peeps ime after an XP 2600+ T-bred B (L2 256KB) 16.0x133MHz = 2133MHz, WCPUID(AXDA2600DKV3C) cpu...

not to much probs u may think... but you would be wrong..
ive been looking for weeks for a reasonably priced 2600 fsb266 cpu but to no avail.... the cheepest i can find atm is £96.. and i cannot stretch to anyware near that... 333fsb chips are everyware priced at about £49 - £60... but according to some people ive talked to they wont work in my board.. neither will semperon's...

so does anyone hereabouts have a spair one knocking about in that old case in the corner??? or know of someone who has one for sale... ?

My Motherboard is the same that yours (ASUS A7N266-VM). That Motherboard can support Processors with 333 MHz Bus but you must do psychal modifications to it... Look at this Thread' ">http://forums.amd.com/index.php?showtopic=20482 maybe you can do it and will be happy with it. -Milt- should be able to assesorate in this better that I do.
