Presently my system consists of a 2400+ Athlon on a GA-7ZXE mainboard. The present hard drive is a WD 40 G, 5400 rpm, 2M cache. I want to want to change the hard drive to a WD 80G, 7200 rpm, 8M cache.
Does anyone know of a reason why this hard drive would not work with the present CPU?

What size of a HDD you can use depends on your motherboard, NOT the processor. That being said, you will have no problems at all with an 80GB HDD

Correct, motherboard will determine HDD compatibility. And a motherboard that can handle a 2400+ chip will not have a problem with an 80gb drive, and WD makes good drives.
