It all depends on the board revision, whats your board revision, it is usually marked on the board on the PCB as a screened (painted) or as a sticker.

Version 37480
Update Description 1. Support AMD Athlon XP 2400+ and 2600+ CPU' ">

I noticed that the BIOS's for all the K7 series boards has been updated, so you can use the 266FSB 2400+ and 2600+ XP's...
Hope that helps...

PS, use the Taiwan site not the USA or global site, it is the most up to date.

Now confirmed that the XP-M will not work.

QUOTE (MD Willington @ Jul 20 2004, 10:39 AM) You can even use the mobile XP's
Hi MD,

I know this is an old thread but since it was posted, Milt and I about drove ourselves nuts trying to figure out why a guy named Steve could not get a mobile Barton going on his M817 (PCCHIPS version of ECS K7AMA) at any speed. And I think you'll agree with me, Milt does not discourage easily! Just posting this now in case a user of this mobo runs across the thread.

After that experience, I can't recommend a mobile for this board. Not sure if it's because of the ALiMAGiK 1 chipset, which has a special mobile version which is of course not found on this desktop board, or the fact that the mobo is 100% jumper-controlled and hence BIOS does little if anything to detect or manage the CPU.
