I am resurrecting a system for a friend. It has an AMD motherboard and an Athlon chip, just plain old Athlon...no XP or 64 or any of that cool stuff. A1200AMS3B is the serial # for this chip. The system was built for her by I don't know who. FYI : mobo serial # is 00360295696-288.
Do Athlon A1200AMS3B normally run hot? I found a spec sheet and it says the "die temperature" is 95 celsius. That's pretty freakin hot...200 F. How does this happen without it seizing up? Does it mean this is the temperature it always runs at or the maximum temp the processor can take?
Any information would be helpful.
Anybody know of a resource for finding out the specs on a motherboard?
