I have an ASUS a7N8X motherboard with a 1.001 bios. I was running a 1.6 Athlon
XP fine.

I wanted to upgrade. I did some research, and I found I could put in a 2400 if it was the Thoroughbred core. So I took it into a place for an upgrade.

The guy there told me it will take up to a 2800 fine. If so, I said fine.

Will it?

Socket A for AMD® Athlon™XP/ Athlon™/ Duron™ 600MHz ~ 3000+
Thoroughbred/Barton core CPU ready.

400* / 333 / 266 / 200 MHz
( * PCB 1.06 or earlier version need BIOS update )

Figure out what PCB rev and bios rev you have...

Then check out the links to the motherboard manufacturers website...

Keep in mind if you use the 2800+, which you can, then you will need appropriate the 1.6 uses 266MHz bus speed ram, while the 2800+ uses 333MHz bus speed ram...

Physics? Ha! This is clearly magic and devilry at work. Prepare firewood! We have witches to burn!
