ZONIAN, what are his system specs? Maybe we can come up with something else that he can find. Bartons with high multipliers of 12 and above are great in 333MHz motherboards but I'd avoid them if you can use 400MHz. I do have an extra Barton XP2800+ but hesitate to get involved with a long distance sale. I keep hoping to find someone near by who can use it in an older motherboard. You gotta get past this aversion to overclocking, Bud! /biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /> A good machine part cries for more performance than stock! (But honestly Palominos are lousy overclockers so you're right on that one.)

Good, he can find what he needs in the good ol' USA! If he posts his specs here I bet we can point him to the right CPU at Newegg. Which always is an overclocked mobile in a Socket A board. /biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' />

Z's code was just the ticket since the OPN "AXDA2800DKV4D" tells you it's a 333MHz Barton XP2800+. The "4D" at the end tells you that. AXDA2800DKV3D would be the 333MHz TBred XP2800+.

this is what he said to me:
"""Thats great.the Tbred has more potential than the palamino.look and see if you have a Tbred 2800 pre week 37 2002,if ya got one i´ll see ya in Oregon"""
i don't have one of those, but he's coming back from germany and he wants to build a new box for himself to play games on, i think.
i have a tbred, but it's a 2200 and i really don't want to give up my old cpu.
i liked that old workhorse, it was in an ASUS m/b/ with a fsb266 support. A7V266 E K7 ddr266.

Hey,Bob.
maybe when i get done with some of the things that need attention first , i might try to do that. this board here is capable of handling that cpu,i think. it was running in it once upon a time.

If you're talking about your A7N8X-E, it can handle any Socket A Athlon or mobile.

He could always get a sempron 3000+. It's only 83MHz slower. It has the barton core but has a 12x multiplier instead of a 12.5x for the athlon.

True, true and a good choice for many. But I'm a broken record and always say "Get XP-M, Get XP-M, Get XP-M, Get XP-M..." Cheaper, faster, better - if you can find them. You can in the USA but maybe not in Germany, France and other third world countries. (Just kidding!!!
