Hey guys,
im new to this forum, but was wandering if someone could help me.

I just bought and Athlon 3000+ (im hoping a barton core aith 333MHz FSB) for my ASUS A7V333 KTA333 motherboard. It supports up to 3200+ so its fine. I updated my bios and i have 512 combined DDR ( 1 stick of 256 PC2100 and 1 stick 256 PC2700). the only way i can get my CPU to run at 2GHz (or 2210 more specifically) is if i set my External CPU Frequency to 170MHz. If i set it to 166MHz, then i can only go to 1.0GHz CPU speed. I dont know what im doing. If i leave my CPU running at 2.21GHz, the CPU temp goes to about 60-70 Degrees. Is that too high? Can someone suggest something?

Do i have to take my PC2100 256Mb stick out to run my CPU properly?
What multiplication factors can i use to get CPU to 2160 like other 3000+ CPU's?

Please help me......im really desperate to make this box work!!!

You need at least pc2700 memory to run at 166, so try it with just that stick.

List all the hardware, including power supply specs.

Are you sure you don't have the 400fsb version of the xp3000 which runs at 10.5x200~2.1GHz?

The 333fsb xp3000 runs at 13x166~2167MHz and will show as a 1300MHz processor if the board is set to run at 100MHz (safe mode). With the 400fsb, version, the speed at 100 would be about 1050MHz.
