I have a AMD Athlon 2500+ XP Barton OC to 3200+ on Gigabyte 7N400 Pro Socket A 462, 1.5gigabyte ram, ATI X1950 Pro AGP 512mb ram GDDR3, 160gigabyte drive, fairly new expensive 550watt PSU with enough Amp or what ever The GPu requires.
I have a problem with slow gaming everything is slow, Counter Strike is like 80FPS with my old card ATi 9600xt it runs at 100+fps, Playing Counter Strike Source it use to be 45Fps consistent now its just 10FPS.
I had the CPU/Computer Cleaned few months back because it was running really slow because i tought that the problem is the CPU cooler being really dirty. When i got it back it runned every game really fast, but after a month it went back to slow gaming performance again. The cpu is still clean i dont understand whats wrong with it.
I think its the CPU temperature is too high, it is running 79'C right now OC at 3200+.
Im guessing 79'C temperature is not good for a 2500+ Barton Clocked to 3200+.
I have the same CPU which like you is running too hot 64c (with the case sides off) but I notice that the unit is running at 2100MHz the CPU fan is running at 2860rpm and the core Voltage is 1.7 which I suspect is too high.
Stock for a xp2500 is 1833MH at 1.65v so if your ocd to 2100MHz at 1.7v then thats not too bad but 64c under load is a bit high but not dangerously so. Main thing is it stable at that temp? Pressume that is with the stock hsf?
