I have had this processor for some time now. Recently I have run into some problems where some applications will not run saying they require the SSE instruction set. I thought this processor did support SSE. I used the AMD cpu info tool and CPUz and found that it is not reported to have SSE. Was I mistaken or is there a driver issue with my processor?

It should support SSE if it's an Athlon xp of any sort. Yours is a Palomino by the looks of it.

It could be a motherboard bios issue possibly but that long list doesn't seem to give the motherboard. It's not a driver problem AFAIK.

See what cpu-z comes up with. http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

You are talking about SSE and not SSE2 aren't you? Because they don't support SSE2.

I found this http://www.pcstats.com/release...m?releaseID=716

You may try FIC support for a bios update. Also as it's an AMD chipset it could be a driver issue.

This may take some time. I will have to make the flash program work off of a CD instead of a floppy as my comp no longer has a floppy XD

It may be quicker just connecting a floppy drive. I can't see the point of removing floppy drives. You never know when you might need one.

It's always advisable to use a UPS (battery backup) when flashing to be on the safe side. A power cut in the middle of a flash will corrupt the bios.

I have neither in my possession nor can I afford the UPS

Whilst I wait for nero to d/l
is there any other problems that may cause this?
could it be a windows thing or maybe the processor is bad?

Which bios did you use? Which version of the board do you have?

If you changed cpus from one not supporting SSE you may need to reinstall windows.

i used the ABA46 as noted and its always been the same processor. I found some information saying that this board is a bit funky and sometimes will completely disable SSE. Im just going to wait till the parts I got for my new computer come in, nice lil xmas present.
