i just install an Athlon XP 2600+ onto a A7N8X Deluxe. The MB did not recognize the actual CPU speed. So i checked the site and it said that its a 2.08ghz CPU. I play around with the mutiplier and got 12.5x 166 = 2.075. When i restarted the system, the bootup screen showed an Athlon XP 2800+. Did i done something wrong? What should the mutiplier and FSB be?

Your AXP 2600+ is prolly a 'Barton' - this means it has 512KB of L2-cache instead of 256KB like the T-Bred-version of the AXP 2600+ and therefore it will get the same performance even tho it's running at a slightly lower clockspeed.
The correct clockspeed for your CPU is 1.92GHz - multiplier is x11.5 and FSB is 166MHz.

QUOTE (MightyCow @ Dec 9 2003, 02:18 AM) Thanks for the Info. One more thing. If leave the setting as it is(2800+), will it be a problem? Or will it gain anything out of it? If it is stable, it won't be a problem and it will be slightly faster since you basically overclocked your CPU...(as fast as an AXP 2800+, that is ) Overclocking a CPU does void your warranty, tho, so you might want it to stay at it's rated speed.
