I'm running IQYHA0351MPMW 2500 xp-m cpu.

I'm forced to use Duron aluminium hsf before I get the TR equipment.
Although I run it on 2235Mhz@~1.568V it gets hot as 54C.
It ran a continious period til 60-62C before I dropped the voltage/speed.
(I'm running FAH, so it's constantly ~99% load)

Last time I removed the CPU I noticed a shining area around the core (used a neon lamp).
I'm using AS5 , and some particles could make it from the HS to the core on areas there's no contact between the CPU and the HS(around the core , where the resistors are placed).

I hope I clarified the picture, sorry I don't have a digital camera.

Is there a danger of damaging the core?

Thanks, Gil.

You are safe but if you use enough less AS5 it will not spill over that much 1/2 grain rice size is enough.
