What does that mean exactly?

Can you get into the bios to check the cpu temperature before it restarts?

Can you borrow a beefier power supply to eliminate that suspect?

right, i tested different things and I'm now in need of my full BIO settings if its at all possible. I know the system, I've tried googling for all BIO settings but I've had no joy. I had to change my USB settings in bios because they were disabled so I'm guessing other things may be not correctly set.

Could someone please advise which new'ish cheap'ish graphic card I could install into my current system (this one in the thread) please. I want to upgrade from the current one which is causing a few problems to say the least on windows 7, its a RADEON 9200 SERIES, not a graphic card that should be running on windows 7 but because I placed certain files here and there manually it works. The problem I'm now having is because these are compatible yet working, its messed up my FSB, I cannot set the correct FSB either as all I get is blue screen error, the system is currently running FSB set to 100 when it really should be set to 166.

I've narrowed down the problem and it seems to be the graphic card. As said above, I'd like a cheap graphic card able to run on my current board, please see this whole thread for more details regarding which motherboard etc. I have.

It's not the graphics card.

I suspect a failing power supply, assuming the caps on the board aren't failing as well.

Apologies for the late reply. I sorted most of the issues already in this thread but now I'm having trouble updating the BIOS. My current settings read;

Mainboard: MS-6712
PCB Version: 1.0
BIOS Version: Version 07.00T
BIOS Date: 04/02/2001

Now I've been on to MSI's site and searched my mobo but firstly when I search 6712 in search I get,

KT4V / KT4V-L (v1.0)
KT3V
KT4AV
KT4V-L (v1.1)

I think mines the top option > KT4V / KT4V-L (v1.0)

when I go into that I get loads of BIOS updates dated from oldest to newest. Update Version 1.8 has Support AMD Barton XP3000+ (FSB333) CPU which I don't currently have. Its dated 2003-02-12 but theres newer releases which different description. Does everything within previous releases get added into the new releases of BIOS updates? I don't know whether to download the one that specifically states support for my set up or the latest thinking it has all updates including the one I'm after within it ?

Secondly I've tried MSI's guide to flashing BIOS via USB but the guide doesn't work for me. Is there another easier way to update BIOS?

I don't think a bios update will make any difference apart from telling you the cpu's an xp3000 when you turn the computer on.

If you've tried a better power supply and the cpu is not getting too hot it could well be a section of the motherboard failing. Bad caps maybe.

All previous fixes are usually included in the latest BIOS version.
