Okay... my system died, but my processor is still good. I have an ABit KT7A-RAID coming from a MSI K7T266 Pro2-A. I know I'll be underclocking this chip, but is it even possible to do so? They're both Socket 462s, so will this work?

The other thing... the machine has been dead for a couple of months, and I've forgotten what speed chip I have... how do I identify this on the processor itself?

Okay... the system boots (got impatient ), but it's booting at 1200... thats just not going to cut it. How about some technical specs on safe settings for this 2000+ processor (I identified it) on this board so I get the most out of it that I can?

Thanks!

Set your FSB to 133MHz - multiplier should be x13.5(try 'auto'/'default'
Did you update your BIOS to the latest version?

Currently in the same situation, my VAXP board died. (my fault, indirectly) and I had to borrow a board with a kt133a until I had money. It runs fine, at a piggish 1.5 ghz. (I love SD-ram) but ordered a KT-600 Gigabyte board and some corsair 3200/512 Ram...(was going to splurge but DDR-2 will be out in next 6-9mos as well as Socket 939 so no point). But yes.. it works.. it's slower.. it sucks.. but it works.. slow computer better then no computer.
