Motherboard is Asus A7N8X
I have an AMD 2500+ Barton chip clocked at 200 instead of 166 what is my acceptable CPU temp.
It is currently running ant approx 50>55c is this acceptable and at what tem should I be concerned as not of over stress the CPU

What are your idle temps compared to your full loaded temps....need extra data big guy....idle that temp is ok....I would invest in some better cooling though, GigaByte boards are notorious for reporting high cpu temps....only real way to be surte what the actual temp is ....is to get yaself a thermal probe and see whats what

The Asus prob reports the idle temp is 49C running at 166 bus when onload it increases to 51>52C

when i increase (over Clockthe CPU) the buss to 200 the idle temp is aprrox 52 and increase to 55 when on load.

the BIOS tells me that the temp is approx 43>47C

the fan i am using is an arctic cool noise reduction
the other one i have is cool master with variable speed control but that was about the same temp readings

Have just changed the CPU Fan back to the variable speed one cleand the CPU and re fitted over clocked the processor now it tell me that i am running at 46C which seams better the speed of the fan is not on full eather

Yeah, dust is a bastard! Good thing to often check and clean your fans and Heatsink, and also make sure your themal past is doing it's job.

have a 2600+ @60-65C
and it works well Yah i should change the cooler + fan

Asus Probe reads the socket temp not the CPU die temp that is measured from the internal diode of the chip.

You can easily add 10C-15C to that socket temp.

Use Motherboard Monitor and set up the Temp section like so....
Asus 1 = Socket
W83L785T-S Diode = Cpu Die Temp
ASUS 2 = Case Temp
