Ok, gonna buy barton 2500+ with zalman 7000A CNPS Al/Cu and NF7-s rev2.0
Just one small question... is the cooler mountable on my motherboard? I heard lot's of official and unofficial info, so please respond if you have this combination

Generally, I look at the cooler specs first and then go to my mainboard manufacturer's site to determine what mounting system the board supports (socket clips or 4 hole). If the method of attachment differs, then I have to find another heatsink (well, i'm sure you knew that).

the problem is, the manufacturer homepage says NF7-S isn't supported, but some people claim it can be mounted

i ask those who claim it can be mounted HOW they were able to mount it (ask for pictures too...)

if it require moving capacitors or resistors (via soldering), i'd say that it's not worth it...however, simply moving the capacitors out of the way (pushing, bending) wouldn't be too bad...just be damn careful.

i like my SLK-800...cool, quiet (when used with the right fan) and completely supported.

Athlon XP 1700+ @ 2.1ghz (10.5x200) @ 1.65
Temps usually hover in the low 40's under load and 35-38C without.
