Bought a Barton Box XP-2500+ with a FIC AU13 nForce2 3-in-1 BareBone system. Added Corsair 512 MB PC3200 400MHZ 64x64 XMS DDR Memory. Latest and greatest drivers for motherboard, and PCI devices, Maxtor Ultra HDD, GForce NVidia card with 128MB, etc.

With Win98SE as the OS, the system would sometimes boot ok, sometimes it would get part of the way into the process, then hard reboot itself back to bios. It might take two or three attempts to bring up the OS.

Bought XP Home Edition, installed and have the same issue. (BTW, Microsoft lies to you, all it took was a minor change of moving a cable modem from being connected up to a router, to a dedicated NIC, which was already in the machine, to cause a brand new hassle of WINDOWS PRODUCT ACTIVATION for a second time, enought of the rant)

Anyone run across this before? The machine is stable, once its booted. Not overclocked.

Thanks for any help!
