your board needs BIOS Beta version 5002 to support an X4 640, see link :

I bought the AMD Athlon II X4 640 to upgrade from my old AMD Dual Core, but when i replaced the two cores nothing happens on start up. This core however did fry my old power supply so i upgraded to a new one without a doubt it would run it but the same thing happened, but it started up normally when I put my old core back. Did this fry the 640 or do I need to upgrade to Windows 7. Need assistance please.

Motherboard - ASUS m2N32-SLI Deluxe
Graphics Card - nVidia GT9500
Ram - 4gbs
OS - Windows XP Service Pack 3
