Hi everyone, I'm new here and I have a problem. I thought maybe You smart fellows might give a dummy like me some help!
I built a new system, had it going and it all of a sudden it went down.

MB=nvidia nForce GA-NF-RZ

CPU=AMD2600/333 ATHLON XP BARTON

RAM=ADATA 64Mx64 DDR400 512MB

VIDEO=VGA ABIT-RADION R9200SE 128MB

I had a problem with MB to start with, The lan didn't work. I returned and installed new, no luck. I bought a new, cheap, 16 bit video card, still no luck.
I can start comp. with on-off switch, but cannot turn it off using switch. When I turn comp. on the monitor comes on for a few seconds and goes back to sleep mode. using delete during start up will not bring up bios. I have cleared CMOS and retried with no luck.
I guess I'm down to processor or ram. Can anyone give me a direction to go?

Thanks in advance to all that respond.

Try Holding CTRL and Insert while booting. That should put you into safe mode. It may not help though since you cleared cmos already. Also Try F9 for recovery. Also try switching slots with your ram, and possibly changing to a different brand. Gigabytes are very ram picky.
