In the last month, my temps were going from low 40 idle to 52 load when oc-ed, so I flash the bios and get a major decrease, low 30 idle, 44-45 load. Running like that for 2 weeks, 24/7 & folding. When I reseted it a few days ago, all my temps were instatly increased by 5C. I noticed some dust collecting on the case fans, so I thought, hey - it's dust but today I reset my computer and all temps drop by more than 10C. I'm folding at 40C cpu temp ?? I read these values from my /proc/acpi/thermal directory on 2.4.20 linux kernel, will check in BIOS later. Does anyone here have these kind of problems? Any, I saw a discussion here, about some programs reading the temps from motherboard thermistor and other from cpu internal diode, so: What kind of temps am I getting? What kind of temps is my award bios showing me? Thx...
your bios will show the temperature as measured by the thermistor inder the socket.. this will always be about 10-15deg lower than the true die temperature. programs that let you select the thermistor may read either the on die thermistor or the socketed one depending on how you set it up.. this may cause you temp differnces
