HI ALL, new member here.. know nothing about computers until last week when i started tinkering about with an old slot a athlon 650 mhz

works fine, no probs, but i was also given a slot a 900 mhz processor

i believe these processors are known as k7's

what i would like to know though please is while the 650 mhz atlon worked fine, when i tried the 900 the system wouldnt even boot, it did turn on, the fans did turn also but nothing else apart from a siren noise . Was this siren simply a warning that the motherboard was incompatible with the processor?

p.s dont ask me what motherboard i got, aint got that far yet.
