I recently did the following changes

MB : asus a7n266vm to asus a7v400-mx

and i also replaced my smps.

2 weeks ago ausus probe showed me my cpu temp ws 90 and climbing . i eased teh load of a bit and it came down to 85. then i noticed my cpu temp was always in 80 deg. then aftera week or so i cleaned the heatsink( i wasnt 2 sure how 2 remove the heatsink from the motherboard) then it started running at a steady 70.

today i took it 2 the vendor from whom i got the mb and he tooka aamd 2200 xp witha a new fan and showed that teh system was running at 54 deg. when he used the same fan on my processor it showed 60 deg.

first guys .

1 what the safe temp. limit for my processor.
2 do u think i should get the new fan.
3 do u think 60 deg is safe...

my system has 3 fans in the cabinet and as i increase the number of fans . the time taken for it 2 erach teh max temp jus dec. unltimately it reaches the high temp.and my system is not overclocked.

Please help me out guys...

Your temps are way too high ! I'm surprised your pc didn't cut off when you reached 90.

IMO 60 is still high, and I suppose we're talking idle temp, at load it might reach 70. To be on the safe side, it's better to keep the temp under 50. But before going any further, what is your cpu ??

Are you using any thermal compound between the cpu and the HS ? Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste can help lower the temp

Another way to help lower your temps on a socket 'A' is to enable the 'halt state' and the 'stpgnt state', you can do this by d'loading 'CBID' and go into the 'mobility' section, the only thing is you cannot set this to 'autoboot' so you will have to do this manually everytime you boot. Their is a software called 'Cool-On' which will enable this at start-up, but trying doing it using CBID first.
