I recently upgraded from an amd athlon xp 3000 333fsb to an amd athlon xp 3200 400fsb in order to take full advantage of my ram and motherboards fsb.
Mother board: Asus A7N8X rev2.0 bios 1010 Ram: OCZ gold edition pc3200 DC 2x512mb
Everything worked flawlessly until i put the new processor in. With the new processor installed, i can only get the system to boot with the cpu frequency set to 100, instead of the 200 it is suppose to be at. I reset cmos memory several times and tried every cpu frequency possible(100, 133, 166, 200) with no luck except for 100. I noticed when the cpu boots it shows the memory running at 200mhz with new proc in and it showed it running at 166mhz with the old proc, so i know the ram is recognizing the new proc. Any ideas?
QUOTE(Stone_age @ Oct 17 2005, 04:54 PM)Where did you puchase your 3200+ at, and was it an OEM, or a retail box?
I purchased the proc from www.tigerdirect.com, and i believe that it is an oem. It did not come boxed with a heatsink and fan. Does this make a difference? I purchased a thermaltake extreme volcano 12 series heatsink and fan and it is rated for this cpu.
