The Athlon XP 2400+ is running at its rated speed of 2000 MHz.

The Athlon XP line is given a PR (Performance Rating), based on how the particular processor will perform against an Intel Pentium 4 processor of a similar MHz rating. In this case, your 2400+ is comparable to a Pentium 4 running at 2.4 GHz.

AMD processors do not need all the clock speed to achieve the same, or better performance. Why? The architecture of the processor is far more efficient.
