I have just built a new AMD system with the ASUS A8V Deluxe motherboard. I would like to know the procedure to install the Promise 378 controller driver after having installed Windows XP Pro.

Obviously I can not install the driver under Windows so I need to create some form of boot disk with the right driver (I would think??). If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

Its pretty easy actually. Just go to www.asus.com/support
Then find the downloads section, motherboards, socket 939, Asus a8v deluxe.

Then you will find the newest driver. Download that, then unzip it. then go into the device manager( control panel, system, under hardware tab, device manager)

Then you need to download both the Promise Fastrack RAID and Sata drivers, I dont remember which one has the file built into it. I think its the fastrack raid, but download and unzip both.

Also go into the bios, and I believe its under the integrated peripherals tab, choose your Promise setting as IDE or sata.

I have try that previously but no luck. I have downloaded the latest drivers from ASUS web-site & un-zipped & tried to update driver.

I have a exclamation mark under the Promise 378 controller under Device Manager. I have also tried to uninstall & re-install but same problem. It appears that I can not do it under Windows thats why I suspect that I have to install the driver some other way???
