The XP 2400+ is faster. It has a lower FSB (133MHz vs. 166MHz), but its increased clock speed is more than enough to make up for that.

Faster in clock speed, they're not. The XP 3200+ is 2.2 GHz, the slowest 64's are 1.8 GHz.

Since the Athlon XP's have shot way up in price recently, it would be better to get the 64 since it's cheaper.

Edit: Overall, it would be best to get the socket 939 Athlon64 3000+ with the Winchester core. Very good overclocker.
