Yes, but that isn't a model 8 or 10 socket-462(A) based cpu. Like this one:

Sempron 3100+ is socket-754 based, just like certain A64's are...

OPN | Model Number | Frequency Mhz | Multiplier | Front Side Bus | Package | L2 Cache
SDA3100AIP3AX | 3100+ | 1800 | 9x | - | socket-754 | 256KB

Woops! I'm sorry for my mistake! I got a question for you MD Willington. Should I get an AMD Sempron 3100+ or should I get an AMD Athlon 64 2800+ (I've seen those match up, but Sempron is cheaper)? I want a good upgrade path to 64-Bit once 32-Bit is kicked out and I don't want to spend that much.

For the 30 dolars diference that there are bewthem a Sempron 3100+ and an Athlon 64 2800+, go for the Athlon 64. There is actually a Windows XP 64 Bits Edition beta that is worth of testing (I know one guy on my country that have an Athlon 64 and that Windows works more fast that the 32 Bits one, and with around 90% of the 32 Bits applications working on it at the same speed, what do you think that he have installed right now?)...

I agree with zir_blazer, if you are ready to jump into the "next gen" go for the A64...
