Hello, I have purchased a new computer last week. I had ordered for a AMD sempron 2200+..... and motherboard, ASRock K7VM3.
and in the bios on this system it shows as the processor is AMD ATHLON XP and 900Mhz......... the frequency is 100Mhz.... so 100*9= 900..... I just read somewher tht if i can set the freq to 133Mhz, then 133*9~ 1.2Ghz can be achieved... is it true??? if so, then what freq should I set it to..... as I am new to this, and also over-clocking incorrectly may cause problems, i want a expert advice....
also one more doubt, I read in the motherboard manual, that over-clocking more than recommended cpu bus freq may cause damage to the cpu. so wats the max limit for my cpu..... also does over-clocking cause any heating problems?

You got your Sempron 2200+. Most (in fact virtually all) motherboards default to 100Mhz FSB when first set up. Set the FSB to 166Mhz, to get the full 1.5Ghz that your chip is meant to run at.
You should have at least PC2700 memory to run that FSB speed.

It's the speed of the memory. PC2100 has a speed of 133Mhz (266DDR), and a data throughput of 2100MB/s, PC2700 runs at 166Mhz (333DDR), and 2700MB/s, PC3200 @ 200Mhz (400DDR), and 3200MB/s.
You want the memory to be the same speed as the FSB of the CPU. Slower memory will generally mean the CPU will need to underclock to match the speed of the memory.
