I need to know how to overclock my sempron 2800+ I have no idea of how to do this and would seriously like to know. I am currently running 512DDR at 333mhz and will add another 512 today. I am clocking at 1.9ghz. What do i need to know or do. Also, how do i know my Sempron 2800+ is a 64bit or not. I keep hearing about these sempron64's but haven't seen them anywhere.

if your cpu is a socket A then it is not 64bit, as for overclocking, the semprons are locked so you have to up the fsb in your bios(or set jumpers on your motherboard if you have them, you dont say which board you've got) as you can't change the multiplier

Okay I'm ashamed to say, but I've got the stupid PCchips SiS 741 Board. What is a safe setting for the fsb as far as overclocking goes? I believe I have a Socket A since I'm running at 1.9ghz. What a bummer. I just bought this thing without even doing my research first and I know they won't take this crap back. I really thought I was getting some sort of 64 bit.

In all honesty I think you'd be better off looking at possible processor upgrades for that motherboard.

In BIOS, raise HT(clock) to 250MHz, set the memory divider to 166MHz, lower the HT multiplier to 3X. Raise Vcore to 1.45-1.5V. Set memory timings to 2.5-3-3-7, command rate(CR) to 1T. Save and exit.

Seems to be a couple of different issues in this thread. If you meant the most recent post about Stalker's Asus K8N, then I don't think there are a lot of options out there anymore since it's a Socket 754.

A sempron 2800 at 1.6GHz is a direct competitor to an Intel Celeron 2.8GHz. That's why it's called a 2800.

When they talk about minimal requirements for a processor, they're talking about Intels.
