The Sempron64 chips are mad overclockers!! This is on air too. 80.00$ priceless.
BTW I can get it to 3.0GHz but not SuperPi 1M stable. /tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' />

To OC a Sempron64, do you raise the FSB and that's all?
Do most mobos keep AGP, PCI, and RAM at a constant speed, or are those also affected by raising the FSB?

I have a socket A 2400+ that was running at 200x10 with 1.71 vcore. Stable and temps were mid 40s*C idle and 48*C under load with stock HSF and a 120mm fan on the case over the HSF/chipset.

That is how you OC on semprons (and most all procs unless it has an unlocked multiplier) and yes pci, agp ram all are affected by raising the FSB. Thats why some ram, mobos etc OC better than others. Some are designed for it, or at least tolerate it better.

I did some research and found out nForce3 250Gb, nForce4, and K8T800 Pro all support PCI/AGP locks, so unless I misunderstand what the locks do, I think they keep the PCI/AGP at the correct speed independent of the FSB. For that reason, I upgraded the motherboard in one of my machines to an Asus K8N4-E Deluxe (nForce4) and used a Sempron 64 2600+ in it. It's supposed to be 1.6GHz, but I clocked it to 250FSB and it runs at 2.0GHz. Seems to be stable so I'm happy! I tried higher FSB's, but it just wouldn't even boot with anything higher. My motherboard doesn't support increasing the Vcore (for some reason I thought it did before I bought it).

Yes thats so you can lock what speed you want them running at once you get it stable. But yes OCing by using the system bus as your method of doing so does effect the other bus's in the system.

Hey All,

I have a Sempron 2400+ Socket A and would like to overclock it to get maximum performance. Can anyone tell me what are the maximum values to which I can OC it?

Which software is the best one to overclock?

Secondly, the ambient temperature where I am keeping the PC, varies from 45 degrees Celsius (in summer) to 25 degress Celsius (in winter). Keeping this in mind what would be the maximum temperature that I can let the Processor go to-- if I OC?

Thanks for any help.

Their is no max settings one can tell you to OC to. OCing is a tedious careful process and it differs between every CPU. The only way for you to know is to gradually start bumping up the system bus, going to windows, seeing if everythings good and keep going up.

Wondering if anyone can provide me some very specific info..

For either a palermo S64 2800 or 3100 754 pin:

What clock speed will it run on the stock HSF, at reasonable temps with it running 24/7/365 with the CPU pegged at 100% all the time?

Under these conditions does anyone have one running much over stock?

Thanks, Skip

2.7Ghz on my Sempron 3100+ (300x9). Almost three months at that speed, no issues whatsoever. Love that E6 core.

Maybe its past its break in period now and I can try for higher

Not sure that I can push my OCZ Plat's much more than the 225 (450) they are running at now though.
