What'd yall think about overclocking a 3000+, with stock cooling?

What's my limit? I don't need EXTREME Ocing, since that isn't what i want. It would be cool just to tell my friends that i overclocked, what? 100, 200, 300 Mhz?

Just wondering!

I doubt anyone here will recommend any overclocking with stock cooling

You will be better off with another cooler, just to be on the safe side. I'd say you could pull off ~200 MHz, and still be safe with stock cooling, however.

I run my Sempron +2200 with AMD's Heatsink/Fan at 211Mhz FSB. This shows as a Sempron +2600 with a 1900Mhz frequency on my ASROCK mobo. I havent adjusted the voltage on anything. I spent $120 for both board and cpu. It runs all 3D games; especially Unreal 2004; which uses the CPU heavily. Havent had any problems. I built this for my kids. Its an awesome setup. I ran it at 225 Mhz (+2000). It ran smooth without any problems or voltage increase and stock Heatsink/Fan. It runs 45 celius idle and 50 when playing UT2004. Cant beat this budget system. That is my two cents.

Peace

Sorry, but it really boils down to you trying to overclock it yourself.

I agree, I have managed to play with a couple Sempron 2400+ models and both overclocked the FSB from 166 to 200 with no effort. No extra voltage, no heat increase and excellent stability....all with stock cooling, which seemed fine as the temps were quite good.
2400+ translates to a 2800+ with the flick of a switch.

Heh, it's that easy, well, after some scraping up of some funds, and careful consideration, I've decided to go with an AMD 64 3300+, from an HP comp, but don't worry, I will make it non-OEM soon enough...

Edit, f$$$ that, 256KB Cache, New Question:
AMD 64 3300+ with 256KB Cache (pathetic)
AMD Sempron 3000+ with 512KB Cache

Which one is better?

Well, when i think about it, the 3300+ has to be the better of the 2, i mean, it would outstrip the Sempron 3100+, since its practically the same, but this has 2.4Ghz clock, soooo better right?

Yeah, i prefer to buy OEM PC's, then tweak em, had a bad experience once

So anyways, if its the same thing as a Sempron 3100+, based on the same core and everything, wouldn't it eat a 3100+, since it has 600Mhz faster clock?
