I am running an AMD Sempron 2400+ CPU on an ASUS A7S8X-MX mobo.

Mobo specs:

462-pin surface mount, Zero Insertion Force (ZIF)
Supports 333MHz FSB
Socket A for AMD Athlon XP/Sempron processors

I would like to know which processors I could cram in there to upgrade from my lowly 1.67GHz?

Athlon XP3000+/333fsb version or Sempron 3000 which isn't quite as fast but runs slightly cooler.Both have Barton cores so will be better performers than your 2400 Sempy.

You'll certainly notice the difference in speed but it may well be more economical to just get more ram if you have less than 512mb's at present.

no need to buy new cpu, just o/c the one you got. Increse the FSB of what you got, See my web (in sig) it will give you all the info that you require!
