I'm practically hardware illiterate so I have a question.
I have a Mercury motherboard (KVM266PM-U) designed for AMD K7 Processor Socket A running a Sempron 2300+ processor. It has two ram slots with 256MB installed in each slot.
This processor is getting too old and overused.
Is it possible for me to fit in a faster CPU on the same motherboard?
I'm not really techie so if yes, tell me what I should buy from the store. Of course I will have somebody fit the new CPU in for me.
Thanks in advance.

yes, u can go up to an Athlon/Sempron 2800+

Ok good. What about ram, replacing the two 256's with two 512's help?

sure, no problem!
but be aware that all these parts are discontinued technology (outdated) and no warranty can be claimed - talk to the dealer!
