HI:
I found out that my motherboard is a 900MHz.
Running this motherboard on a 2200 Sempron CPU causes the CPU reading (usage)to be 100%
This reading stays at 100% until it is shutdown.
Moreover, Windows Update will not download and install any of the updates.
What processor should be used on a motherboad that shows an AMD ATHLON 900MHz?

Thanks for any help you may supply.

A Sempron 2200+ should run by default at multiplier 9x, Front Side Bus at 166MHz, resulting in 1500MHz.

What motherboard do you have ? It is now running at 9x100MHz. If the motherboard supports 166MHz fsb,
it can be set through its BIOS.

Run CPU-Z and Everest home to find out more about your computer hardware.

Hi,
I also got a problem regarding my sempron 2200+ detected as a 900mhz processor.

i tried to set the fsb to 166mhz and encountered some errors.

I have a MS-6712(v1.x) ATX mainboard
512 ddr400 RAM
64mb video card which I will be upgrading sooner or later.

when I set the fsb to 166, my dram clock has been 400mhz.. I don't know if that caused my system to be unstable because they say that the sempron 2200+ should run at DRAM 333mhz.

they also said about updating my BIOS.

and btw, my dram clock is now running at 333mhz speed wherein the fsb is just 100 and the processor is detected as 900mhz.

I hope you'll be able to help me find a solution and make a sugestion on what kind of video card I should buy.

thanks.

(sorry for posting it here.. though) ^^

kiosy, you need to set the RAM fsb to 166(333MHz DDR) manually in the BIOS, while keepind the CPU clock at 166 (CPU : DRAM clock ratio 1:1).

Download your motherboards manual from MSI's website.

As for the vidcard, you need an AGP card, for circa $90-100 you should find a fairly good card for your rig. Look for VGA card tests and reviews on the web.
