Your motherboard is a HP OEM made by MSI I assume. Model MS-7184.
If its BIOS is the HP's there may be some limitation to what processor you
can put in there, but theoretically any socket 939 processor should do.

http://217.110.237.67/Manuals/...engl%20v1.x.pdf

Check on HP support pages if there are any BIOS upgrades that relate to
supporting newer processors, especially the X2s(Dual Core).

It can be a a bit difficult to find X2s, but the X2 3800+ and 4200+ are yet around
in some places. While s939 Opterons are also available, I'm reluctant to recommend
such for an OEM board, due to the motherboard BIOS. This unless someone else has proof
e.g a DualCore Opteron would work.

You would need a PCI-e VGA card. I assume you are using the on board VGA and its
not sufficient for the newer games.

The mainstream PCIe VGA cards are now the Geforce 8600 series and RADEON 2600 XT.
A bit up the scale is then the new Radeon HD 3850.

Hi,

I have a Sempron 3200+ as well, but I cannot find what socket it uses (I'm guessing it's a 939 because it's older)

Also, I've been reading about AM2 and 939 and I am very confused. One site I saw said that an AM2 processor is not compatible with a s939. But then another site said that AM2 processors are designed with the same s939 "infrastructure" (this was a Athlon 64 X2 6000+ it said that about), and that makes me think an AM2 processor would work in a s939. Any help would be great!

My motherboard is a ASUStek Amberine M 1.02

So I guess my actual question is what AMD processors does my motherboard support?

Thanks,
Luke

ECS nForce3-A

Thats a s754 board,
there is also a ECS nForce3-A939, I'd download and run CPU-Z, it will tell you what socket and CPU you have. CPU-Z

Well if you know it's an A939, then whats the confusion? (hint: Socket 939)

Just click on the CPU Support
link on that page for a list of CPUs the board supports.

Greetings all, I have a 3 year old zv6000[6100] that I just upgraded the RAM on to 2gig. It is a socket 939 processor and I've had no problem with it but I simply want it to go faster. I've been reading a lot on this in here and I need to know what I can do to upgrade the processor with a compatible chip...the faster, the better. Can I get some clear direction here?
