I just reformatted my comp with windows XP home and updated and installed all drivers but now everytime I reboot the system just keeps rebooting or shuts down all the way.
This started when I updated the video driver which is SIS based 741.
As long as I keep it disabled the comp works fine but can't play any games or watch any movies.... Any ideas what this might be???
I got the drivers from the SIS website.

What motherboard is it and are you using integrated(on board) VGA ?

its an award comp system with a pheonix bios/award motherboard as far as I know and was told. Now I got it so if I enable display adapters I can play games and all but can't leave it on when I reboot or it will just keep rebooting over and over again.
Now I'm really lost.

Abd Yes it is intergrated (on board)

Award do not make retail comp systems and phoenix do not make motherboards.
You need to get more details of your system, try using Everest and cpu-z to get more info of your system.

award phoenix makes bios chips and bios software...
SIS (Silicon Integrated Systems) makes chipsets...

is this a prebuilt pc, like dell, hp, gateway, or one of the others? if so who's the maker and model?

or is it one that you or someone built from scratch?

either way, you need to run everest and inventoory your system so you know what you're referring to.. and where to get the right drivers.

This what I got from Everest that didn't say trial version. The computer was hand made from what the guy told me. Its not a dell or anything like that however I did buy it at a local computer store but he passed away so I can't get any information from him so I hope you guys can help.

Thanks for the download site.. It helped alot making the computer faster and all and now I can play games and all as long as I don't have to reboot. In order to reboot I have to go into device manager and disable the display adapter in order to reboot or else it just keeps trying to reboot after it gets to the welcome to windows screen. I figuring its got to be in the boot system somewhere now and I'll never find that.

Could be related to the order in which the drivers were initially installed.

The Audio and VGA driver goes in last, after installation of the chipset drivers and manual reboots inbetween.
