My sytesm was working from fast one year.I was palying many games including GTA4.
Recently it started giving blue screen error.when I tried to install OS from CD.it says no HDD found.
I have checked in BIOS while booting,some times HDD is showing as detected and some times it shows not detected.

Can you please help me on this.I have important Data on Hard Drive.

Below is my system configuration:
Mother Board Model : K9N6PGM2-V
Processor : AMD Sempron 2.7 GHz
HDD : 250 GB(SATA)
RAM : 2 GB.
External Grapics Card Memory : 512 MB.

Please tell me if you need any other information.

Try with another, better Power Supply. Try another SATA channel on the motherboard.

I have tried using oter SATA channel with another connector cable.
when I switch ON first time HDD will show as detected but after 5min it will show not detected.
I have 500W power supply.. currently to my PC.

I have 450 W spare Power supply.Do you wany me to connect 450 W power supply and check.?

Yes you can try the other PSU temporarily. If it is indeed power starvation, you can remove the external VGA card, then boot up using the onboard VGA and backup your data from the drive as soon as possible, then replace the Power supply.

The quality of the power supply is more important that the number of watts on the label.

Just saying it's a xxxw psu doesn't mean much. Brand, model and AMPS specs are more important.

my system has 500W power supply,I tried by replacing it with 450W but no use.
still im getting blue screen error when it tried to boot from HDD,after that in BIOS it shows as not detected.

Please help me to resolve the issue.

You need to test the hard drive using a bootable floppy disc, cd or usb key. Find out the make and model of the hard drive, go to maker's website and see if there is any test disk available which can be downloaded.

Or if you can get hold of a Linux live cd(eg ubuntu) you can boot from that and see if you can see the hard drive in the "live" operating system.

Look at the labels on each power supply. Get Make, model of each power supply and also AMPS specs which should also be marked on the label:

+12V rail(s)
+5V rail
+3,3V
+5Vsb
etc

There should be an AMPS(A) rating for each of these rails.

if the HD test(s) passes, how did it go with removing the discrete VGA card and using on board VGA only?

Hi I'm new here and I apoligize if I should of posted this elsewhere. I been loyal to AMD a number of years now.
I have a hard time letting go older computers and building my 5th in the AM family now. I started with a simple intel 533MHz and then discovered AMD was much better. the current issue I'm in is perplexing me.
I'm using everything within reasonable grounds.
um I'll brake it down as simple as I can.
Motherboard is a M863G ver 1.5
Using a sempron 2200+ or a simple Athlon 900 MHz
depends on clock speeds
I actually got a full 2 gig of ram being read
DDR 400 MHz or 3200
one samsung 60 gig IDE and a maxtor IDE 120
psu is 475 watts, not sure about the rest but was enough to run my simple AM@ tower at the time. and a PCI e card
I was using a simple 128 ddr agp card
but can't seem to locate what the problem is
removing the maxtor drive does seem to be a big issue.
but is there even any point to persueing further?
I am 2 computers away from getting everyone outta a single core computer and on a dual
just fear these older ones are done for
but I still run a K7S5A
Most stable single core board I ever used with all the bells and whistles
anyways so anyone any ideas?

If its not broken your not trying hard enough.

Um, you haven't mentioned what is actually wrong. If it can't run at full speed(i.e. it's 9x100 instead of 9x166) it's worth trying another power supply. Otherwise it could be a bad capacitor on the motherboard.

You need to test all your disk drives and try another channel...It will work good...
