I am wanting to upgrade my sempron 1200LE to a phenom x4 this is an hp mo board #m2n68-la narra 6 gl6. the support at hp claims this processor will work in this board but to my distrust of hp support i have researched and found many problems with doing this. The processor i want to install has matched specs as far as socket type and wattage, so my actual question would be, what should i expect to do to make this work. please dont flog me to much for being a noob. also running windows 7 64 bit.

can anybody please help me with this, any information would be helpful

OK. So which model Phenom X4 did you upgrade to? This info could be useful for other upgraders.

a 9750 I had a small temp issu but installed a better heatsink and its working very good now. I am looking into building my own pc also do you have any parts you would recommend for a beginner, my budget is around $500 give or take a hundred

Perhaps you can start a new thread at "Desktop Specs & Component Recommendations", stating your computer main usage/needs + budget, I am sure you will get some good suggestions.
