I inherited this pc from my father in law. I have tried several benchmarks and cannot get the cpu clock speed to be correct. Here is what I found:

When the pc boots up, the first screen shows 2.3 Ghz. After completely booting into windows, the clock speed shows the processor at 2.3 in system information, but all fingers point to it not running full speed. I used CPU-Z and observed it though several programs and tasks with no improvement.

I have searched the forums and cannot find a direct answer or problem relating to this specific processor. Any ideas?? I know that this processor is comparable to a Celeron and on the bottom of the pile, but any improvement would be nice! My old 1.2 Ghz Athlon was faster!

You have Cool'n'Quiet enabled which clocks the multiplier down to x5 at idle. It should run at full speed under load.

You can disable CnQ in BIOS and/or in OS, control panel, power options.
