Hello. I am a newbie in the hardware world(actually I am not even sure if this is a pure hardware question). I bought a barebones computer with Sempron 2200+ processor, 128 + 512 MB PC2700 DDR, 40GB 7200 HD. I have installed Win2000-SP4 professional on the system. I am having 2 main problems.

1. I have a LG Flatron 1530S monitor I want to use, but I cannot change the monitor settings. In Win2K, when I go to the Control Panel->Display->Settings->Advanced->Monitor, the monitor type is set to "Default Monitor". But the "properties" button is greyed out and I cannot changed the driver.
I have reinstalled the Win2k software 2 times, but get the same result. Any insights on what I might be missing?

2. The motherboard seems to have an inbuilt sound-card but I am not able to use it. The Win2k software shows that there are no Playback Devices installed (in Control Panel->sounds->Audio).
Do I need to purchase and install a SB Live soundcard or is there anyway that I can use the soundcard on the motherboard.

Another question: Does Sempron 2200+ processor work with Windows 2003?

Thank you so much
Praveen

LG Monitor drivers:
http://www.lge.com/support/software_gcsc.jsp' ">http://www.lge.com/support/software_gcsc.jsp

Integrated sound should be enabled in the bios (check to make sure it is; should be under "intergrated peripherals", or similar). The proper drivers should then be installed, which is usually supplied from your motherboard driver CD.

Windows 2003 System Requirements:
http://www.microsoft.com/windo...2003...qs/default.mspx' ">http://www.microsoft.com/windo...n/sysreqs/default.mspx

As long as it is not the 64 bit (x64) version, you should be able to use it.

Thanks AMD808. After further search I found both the integrated display and audio drivers from the motherboard manufacturer (VIA) web site. The guy I bought the assembled machine from didnt' give me the motherboard cd (I will ask him for it now)

Once these drivers installed, everything works great, both display and audio.
