Having a bit of trouble with a new Sempron 2800 and MSI K8M NeoV, also new.

On application of power the cpu fan will start up but that's as far as anything gets. The VGA fan does not start and no beeps are heard. No heat is generated from the cpu at all leading me to think it's not working although it's straight out of the box.

I have tried reseating numerous times, changing the PSU and running with all but the VGA and RAM removed. The mobo is out of the case. Does anyone have any suggestions? /sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' />

Try to swap cpus if you can and see if it works... And make sure the installation of the cpu and hsf are right

I wouldn't think it's your cpu more likely to be your mobo. Make sure that the cmos reset jumper is in the correct position and not the reset position because some mobo's are 'shipped' with the jumper in the reset position!

Thanks for your replies.

The cmos is in the correct position and I've reseated cpu and fan numerous times. Still no go. I will take the mobo back to the shop tomorrow and see if they can test it for me as I don't have a spare 754 cpu.
Glad at least you think it's more likely the mobo, much easier for me to get replaced.
