i purchased a 2800 sempron for my kids putter ,i installed it and it shows up as a XP-M chip and defaults back to 9x166 ,and 1.473volts SDA2800DKV3D BIXJB0428TPMW with what looks like a hand cut on the L11 third bridge, Multi's are unlocked for 9x-12x in o/s only i have no controll over it in bios on a Winfast K7S41MG-6L.. Help

is this normal or have i been duped ,also it has problems at 166x12 and craps out in Prime95 or graphic's benchmarks

Never heard of that before, Where did you purchase it, was it retail?

I'd take it back and tell them what's going on...

i just took it out and can see it at 40x mag( ). the L11 3rd bridge is very obviously not cut by lazer it looks at tho its been done by hand also the L6 4th is very suspect again hand cut imho.

i dont yet have the ability to get photo's of the chip at that res but (you can bet) im working on it. ..

advice welcomed

they offered me a ticket to the promised land ie' we don't have any more in stock ,come back next week' so i offered to settle in the shop over the counter(fit) and said i'd lost faith in the quality of their products.

if it were not for the fact that i work in a lab and have access to some very hitec toys i would still be without a computer for my kids .

i wonder how many 2800 semprons are out there with the same problems?

i went elsewhere to buy the replacement and, am testing it now with prime95..

'I am Porls vanishing faith in his fellow man......' otherwise a happy ending

Call AMD directly...nothing like having a fraud division and some corporate lawyers gunning for you...except they'll be in YOUR corner...

I always recommend retail in box...but I'm sure you didn't want me to say that.

Sorry that your cpu isn't working out for you...it's jerks that make conterfits that mess things up for all of us.

Good Luck
