Im having trouble with my AMD Sempron 2200... I ordered this PC from a site called Pcrightnow.com all the parts are brand new i customized what i wanted in it... anyway Im running 512 Mbs Of DDR Ram 2 256 Sticks 1 is Pc2100 and the 2nd is Pc2700.. I have a 40 gig hard drive and A Sb live 5.1 sound card and a Nvidia GeForce MX 4000 64 Mb 8X AGP video card and the motherbaord is an AsRock K7S41GX with latest bios version 2.00 ever since i updated the BIOS to 2.00 windows Xp Pro with no updates doesnt boot up too well b4 it gets to the welcome screen the screen stays black then it loads up and says windows is starting up then says welcome and then it sits there and then goes to the desktop and hangs for a few minutes until i can do something.. my page file is set on 1024 and i've disabled the background intelligence service and the ones i can disable safely and i even applied the patch from windows update for the background intelligence and it didnt change anything at all.. someone told me to run windows update and check to see if there was a processor update for my processor and i ran that and updated the processor to version 5.1.2600.1152 that didnt help so im stumped on what to do... I guess i shouldnt have updated the bios but the main reason i did was because im plannin on getting a Sempron 2800 2.0 ghz and updating the BIOS means it would support that but im starting to think i should go with Athlon Xp since my board supports that too... anyway if someone could help me out itd be great... thanks alot.

Get rid of the PC2100 ram, it will not run at pc2700 speed, which is the same bus speed as the sempron...

Have you tried running without the PC2100?

That PC2100 may cause you nothing but headaches with your newer CPU. Mixing different brands of RAM, let alone speeds is not a good thing.

PC2100 is rated for 133MHz operation
PC2700 is rated for 166MHz operation

You'r trying to push the PC2100 into PC2700 operating range and it does not like it.
